As global climate talks enter final day, Climate Week sees record event registrations
London, England - 7th December, 2012 - Over 600 schools, businesses and community groups have already registered to take part in the UK's Climate Week in March 2013. Their activities range from the Climate Week Challenge competition, to events showcasing new products and technologies for living and working more sustainably.
This number is five times higher than it was at the same point in the campaign last year. Climate Week 2012 went on to culminate in 3,000 events so 2013 is expected to be even bigger. So far, the part of the UK with most events is Scotland, but events across the country are expected to increase as registrations continue to grow.
This huge swell of support for action on climate change comes against the backdrop of slow progress at the United Nations international climate talks in Doha, entering their final day today. It shows that despite the difficulty of getting governments to agree on action, thousands of people and organisations across society are already creating solutions for a secure and prosperous low-carbon future.
